This existing Victorian miner’s cottage in an inner city Melbourne bayside suburb was in a reasonable condition for its age, with the usual lean to extension that had been added in the late 20 th century. The site was heritage listed, with all the usual restrictions and requirements for a property of that nature.
The client as a single parent required accommodation for herself, her growing child and for an aging parent. The design involved retaining the front two original rooms as bedrooms and adding a new bathroom with glazed light court + a new kitchen, family and meals area. A master bedroom as added at first floor with an ensuite and a small study space. The end result was a bright and spacious addition that met all the clients’ requirements.
